Here we address the question of whether the non-rearranged MLL1 allele plays a role in MLL-rearranged leukemia and thus would be a rational therapeutic target. We find that deletion of endogenous Mll1 has no impact on MLL-FP-driven leukemogenesis. However, we discover an unexpected role for its closest paralog, Mll2.
